Gingerbread Cookies

These smell and taste like Christmas, and are as fun to make as they are to eat

Once done, ice your cookies with a basic white icing and enjoy the taste of cannibalism.

  1. Melt butter in microwave in a large bowl. Add sugar and golden syrup, mix, then heat again in microwave.
  2. Sift flour, soda and ginger into bowl. Mix well.
  3. Take the dough out of the bowl and knead until smooth. Cover with plastic and chill for 15-30 minutes.
  4. Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F). Line two baking trays with non-stick baking paper.
  5. Roll out dough on a lightly floured surface until 5mm thick. Cut out shapes and carefully place onto trays.
  6. Bake for 10 minutes. Cool biscuits on trays for 5 minutes, then on a wire rack until completely cool.
