Smartie Cookies

Great party pleasers, these bring a touch of colour to the table.

If you don’t have smarties in the house, this also makes for an amazing basic chocolate chip cookies recipe. Mix up the chocolate chip types or add cinnamon for a twist on the flavour.

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F). Line 2 baking trays with non-stick paper.
  2. Beat butter, sugars and vanilla extract for 1-2 minutes or until smooth and well combined. Beat in egg.
  3. Stir in flour in two batches. Stir in choc bits until evenly distributed.
  4. Spoon tablespoonfuls of the mixture into balls and place on the lined trays. Press down slightly.
  5. Bake for 15 - 18 minutes or until light golden and cooked, adding the smarties after 5 minutes of cooking.
  6. Transfer to a wire rack to cool.
