Brownies

Super chocolately, these rich brownies sometimes have a hard time setting

For a colourful touch, press a smartie into the top of each square. For more sophisticated look, dust some cocoa powder over the brownies before cutting.

  1. Preheat oven to 160°C (320°F). Line an 18cm square pan with baking paper.
  2. Gently melt butter and chocolate together in microwave, on medium. Beat sugar and vanilla into the mixture.
  3. Whisk in eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition, then mix in flour, stirring until smooth.
  4. Pour mixture into pan, smoothing the top. Bake for 40 minutes, or until a skewer comes out clean with a fem moist crumbs attached.
  5. Allow to cool, then turn out onto a wire rack and cut into squares.
