- Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).
- Combine oats, coconut, flour, and sugar in a large bowl. Mix thoroughly, forming a well in the centre.
- Place butter, golden syrup, and 1/4 cup of cold water in a saucepan, over a medium heat. Cook for several minutes, or until butter has melted.
- Stir bicarbonate of soda into butter mixture. Stir butter mixture into oat mixture.
- Roll mixture into balls, each approximately one tablespoon in size. Place on a tray, then flatten each by hand.
- Bake for 15 minutes, or until golden. Stand on trays for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool.
